Mark has an aunt and uncle who own property in Concan. So they invited us along with Mark's other brothers and their families, and his parents, to come out for a few days. The weather could not have been more perfect for this time of year-- sunshine, blue skies, and highs in the 50s during the day, and lows in the 30s at night--perfect for sitting by a warm fire and drinking hot chocolate.
We spent as much time as we could outside during the day because my kids absolutely adore being outside. They were completely entertained with walking along deer trails, playing with rocks, etc. While the kids took their afternoon naps, the adults played horseshoes and volleyball. Then at night, if we successfully managed to get the kids all to go to bed (and stay there), we stayed up late visiting and playing games. We really did have a wonderful time. Thank you so much to Scott & Luci for planning this trip and inviting us out. Here are some pictures showing the highlights of our time in Concan.

This was a big tree right by the Frio River.
Rachael and Luci, sunning themselves on the rocks by the Frio River
Someone always had to have a restraining hand on Ryan; otherwise, he'd take off and run straight into the water. He wanted to get in!! He has no idea how freezing cold the Frio River is in summer, much less winter.
The favorite activity: throwing rocks into the river
Playing tetherball
"Look, Mom; I've got TWO rocks!"
I'm telling you, searching for rocks kept my kids busy for hours!
